This work is dedicated to the memory of Charlie Banacos, a beloved family man, incredible inspiration and teacher of the elusive craft of musical improvisation. He was a friend and mentor to thousands of students around the globe, including Gertz. Unlike most of Gertz's instrumental discography, this album stands out with the beautiful baritone vocals of pianist Paul Broadnax. Also featuring Bob Gullotti (drums), Rick DiMuzio (tenor sax), Phil Grenadier (trumpet), and of course Gertz on bass, this recording pays a beautiful homage to the music and joy shared between Charlie and the many musicians he influenced.
