It Wasn't Me is the first album to be released on Bruce Gertz's own label, Open Mind Jazz-001. It features Jerry Bergonzi on saxophone, Ken Cervenka on trumpet, Gabriel Guerrero on piano, and Tim Horner on drums. Three tunes are composed by Bergonzi and four tunes are composed by Gertz. Guerrero composed the tune "Snake Shot." Both Bass World and Jazz Times published great reviews of this record.
