A Different Take is a collection of trios and quartets featuring music of Bruce Gertz and Jerry Bergonzi. It also features great drumming by Austin McMahon and surprise guest appearance of Conley DeRay on piano. The title refers to the majority of tunes on this album which present a thoughtfully crafted "different take" on the chord changes of certain jazz standards. This recording also displays Bergonzi's musicality on soprano, alto and tenor saxophones.
